Oscar Pistorius Shoots & Kills Girlfriend

I was very saddened to hear that in the early hours of this morning, Oscar Pistorius, South African gold medalist, shot and killed his girlfriend.

Before you all get yourselves in a tizzy, it was allegedly an accident.

He thought she was a burglar, shot her in the head and arm and she died on the scene.

Oscar is currently in custody and the whole event is being investigated.

Oscar, a six-time paralympian and a trail blazer in the world of para- and olympic sports, is a hero the world over and is currently being featured in an M-Net ad campaign to promote the “Oscar” Awards coming up one day soon.

I apologise for starting off your Valentine’s Day on such a sad note.

634_obamas_ls_12113_copyYesterday was the 57th Presidential Inaugural celebrations, and inobama00000021-4_3_rx512_c680x510 case you weren’t paying attention, they drew the ultimate of the A-list celebrities, all there to perform and honour the leader of the free world at the beginning of his second term in office. The celebrations kicked off with a host of unofficial pre-inaugural parties on Friday, 18 January and ended with the two official balls (The Inaugural Ball & The Commander in Chief’s Ball) on Monday, 21 January. The president elected to also have a children’s concert, held on Sat, 19 January and between all these balls and parties, the stars came out to play.

People spotted included Katy Perry, Smokey Robinson, Usher, Alicia Keys, Marc Anthony, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Beyonce, the cast of Glee, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Kelly Clarkson, Cindi Lauper, Will.I.Am, Common, Pharrell, James Taylor, Far East Movement, Fun., Nick Cannon and youth gospel choir Soul Children of Chicago.

Theres has since been much furore in the news and net, detailing everything from, the drama caused by Lupe Fiasco when he “went all anti-Obama” at a pre-inaugural event, to the beautiful outfits won by the first lady and other A-list attendees.

micasaMy favourite piece of news, however, happened at the Ambassador’s Inaugural Ball, where Mi Casa, Hugh Masekela and Lira were performing. There is no higher honour, I think, than to be called to perform at the inauguration of the POTUS and these South African artists joined some of the world’s biggest names to honour the Barack Obama at Carnegie Library in the first event of it’s kind. The ball drew ambassadors from Morocco to Malawi and was hosted exclusively by members of the international community.
Representatives from nearly 200 countries were present, including international DJ/vocalist Anane Vega (originally from Cape Verde) and hip hop artist Biz Markie.

Arts and Culture minister, Paul Mashatile sent our musicians off with a “Go out there and make us proud”. Speaking in Johannesburg on the 16th, Mashatile told the group that the whole of South Africa would be behind them.

J-Something spoke for his group members, Dr Duda and trumpeter Mo-T, in an exclusive interview with Tania Fuentez Media, saying “Obama holds a very special role in every African’s heart. Our message to him, from us as a band and, I think from Africa as a whole, is thank you for giving us HOPE!”lira-performance-1
Lira, a BET Award nominee, said she was proud to represent her country and that it was opportunity to show the world what Africa is made of. “When you are out there, you must celebrate being African,” she said, also hinting that she would be wearing a David Tlale creation that be a huge African Statement.
Hugh Masekela, who’s album Jabulani has just received a Grammy Award nomination, assured Arts and Culture minister, Paul Mashatile, that the Grammy would be coming home, and told Mi Casa not to be suprised by their sudden success as “Things that come from heritage will always stand forever.”

Photoshoot III

The third and final instalment in our Photoshoot Friday…(awww 😦 )

I would like to show you what Nicole Richie has done with her life. Following the immense flop that was her public persona after the reality show/Paris Hilton bff/bulimia saga of her life, she got some sense, cleaned herself up, got married, had a coupla babies and generally became someone you could like.

Her’s the mother of two in a more mature look for Flare Magazine…

Next we’ve got Emily Atack of Inbetweeners fame. The 22 year old was catapulted into the limelight in the British comedy series, but I bet you have never seen her look this sexy. Posing for FHM, Emily spoke about her rise to fame, her new role in a film called Get Lucky. Check her out….

Finally….

Agent Provocateur, the makers of all things naughty AND nice… have launched a new line, along with a new face. Trying to create the sensuality and allure of the seventies, they got French model Mylene Jampanoi to sell their undies in their ‘Emmanuelle’ inpired campaign.

The new Fifi collection ranges from 65 Euros for briefs to 695 for a rose-printed silk gown.

Check it out…
